About Remedy Pharmaceuticals
Remedy Pharmaceuticals, Inc. is a clinical stage pharmaceutical company focused on the development and commercialization of small molecule drugs for acute central nervous system disorders.
Our lead drug candidate, RP-1127, blocks the NCCa-ATP channel, reducing the formation of brain swelling (edema) and hemorrhage following ischemic and traumatic injury.
Preclinical and clinical studies of RP-1127 have shown significant promise in the treatment of stroke, traumatic brain injury and spinal cord injury.
Our company’s mission is to save lives and improve the lives of people with these serious conditions, and in the process build shareholder value.
A Phase 2 human clinical study of RP-1127 in severe ischemic stroke is currently ongoing. A Phase 2 human clinical study of RP-1127 in moderate and severe traumatic brain injury, funded by the U.S. Department of Defense in association with INTRuST, is scheduled to begin enrolling patients in late 2011.

David M. Geliebter, Executive Chairman, Co-Founder
David is a serial entrepreneur with significant experience successfully starting, growing and selling businesses. David founded and ran the Carson Group, one of the world’s most successful financial information and advisory companies. Additionally, he was a founding principal and President of Evolution Capital, a healthcare investment banking firm. David is the Managing Partner of Carrot Capital Healthcare Ventures, which focuses on promising seed-stage investment opportunities across a broad spectrum of the healthcare industry. David is also a founder and the Chairman of Access Scientific and Critical Diagnostics.
Sven M. Jacobson, CEO, Co-Founder
Sven has co-founded five healthcare startups and has served as CEO and CFO of each at various times during their development. He has experience in cardiovascular, orthopedic, and neurological therapeutic, device and diagnostic development. Sven has been CEO of Remedy Pharmaceuticals since 2007. Currently, apart from his role of CEO of Remedy Pharmaceuticals, Sven runs the day-to-day operations of Carrot Capital and represents the fund on the boards of Access Scientific and Critical Diagnostics.

Eugene D. Means, M.D. FAAN, Medical and Clinical Trials Advisor
Dr. Means has more than 30 years in the CNS field, having held the positions of Group Director of CNS at Upjohn, now part of Pfizer (NYSE:PFE), as well as Executive Director of CNS and Medical Leader of Emerging Products at Astra Merck, now AstraZeneca (NYSE:AZN). Dr. Means was Head of Clinical Research and Acting Head of Drug Development of AstraZeneca in the US, and more recently Executive Director of Field Medical.
Ann C. Tunstall, Ph.D., Clinical Trials and Regulatory Consultant
Ann C. Tunstall, Ph.D. provides strategic insight into the research, development, and evaluation of novel and marketed medical devices, human tissue products, and pharmaceuticals. Ann has considerable experience in the development of clinical protocols and support documentation. Ann’s practice involves assisting companies establish preclinical, biocompatibility, and clinical study objectives and methodologies, to prepare marketing approval and notification submissions to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and other regulatory authorities.
Mike Telliard, Chemistry, Manufacturing and Controls Consultant
Mike Telliard has been a consultant to the pharmaceutical industry for over 18 years, and is a Managing Consultant with SciLucent, LLC. Mike has assisted dozens of companies in the preparation, submission, and review of the chemistry, manufacturing, and controls (CMC) portion of Investigational New Drug Application (INDs) and New Drug Applications (NDAs) for submission and approval by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. Mike has also successfully prepared and filed applications to member states in the European Union.
W. Dalton Dietrich, Ph.D., Scientific Advisory Board Member
W. Dalton Dietrich, Ph.D., University of Miami School of Medicine, The Miami Project to Cure Paralysis, is Professor of Neurological Surgery, Neurology, and Cell Biology & Anatomy at the University of Miami School of Medicine. Additionally, he is Scientific Director of The Miami Project to Cure Paralysis, Director of the Neurotrauma Research Center, and Vice Chair for Research in Neurological Surgery. His primary research interest is in CNS injury and repair, including both neuroprotective and reparative strategies.

J. Marc Simard, M.D., Ph.D., Scientific Advisory Board Member
Dr. Simard is Professor of Neurosurgery, Physiology and Pathology at the University of Maryland School of Medicine. He is a board-certified neurosurgeon. In addition to his active practice at University Hospital, he also serves as Chief of Neurological Surgery at the Baltimore Veterans' Affairs Medical Center. Dr. Simard is Director of the Department's Cerebrovascular Research Laboratory. A recent focus of the laboratory is on cellular mechanisms of edema formation, with special emphasis on the novel NCCa-ATP channel recently discovered by the lab.
Moses V. Chao, Ph.D., Scientific Advisory Board Member
Dr. Chao is Professor of Cell Biology and Physiology & Neuroscience and Coordinator of the Molecular Neurobiology Program at the Skirball Institute at NYU School of Medicine, where he has been since 1998. Dr. Chao is currently an Editor for the Journal of Neurobiology, Molecular and Cellular Neuroscience and Experimental Neurology. He is presently Chair of the Board of Scientific Counselors for NICHD and was appointed Chair of the New York State Spinal Cord Injury Research Board in 2002. In addition, he serves as Chair of the Christopher Reeve Paralysis Foundation Scientific Advisory Board and the Scientific Advisory Board for the Glaucoma Research Foundation.
Karen C. Johnston, M.D., M.Sc., Clinical Advisor
Dr. Johnston is Professor of Neurology and Public Health Sciences at the University of Virginia. She also holds the position of Vice Chair for Research, Department of Neurology. Dr. Johnston’s clinical research interests focus on acute stroke care, clinical trials, and outcome. Dr. Johnston’s clinical trials methodology research involves exploration of improved techniques for development and conduct of stroke trials. Specific areas of pursuit include development of risk adjustment methods and surrogate outcome measures for use in stroke clinical research.
Gregory W. Albers, M.D., Clinical Advisor
Dr. Albers is Professor of Neurology and Neurological Sciences at the Stanford University Medical Center, Palo Alto, CA, and since 1992, the Director of the Stanford Stroke Center. Dr. Albers’ research focus is the acute treatment and prevention of cerebrovascular disorders. Dr. Albers has published over 150 articles in the medical literature and has been the principal investigator of more than 50 clinical studies. He has chaired multiple consensus panels that have published national and international guidelines for stroke treatment and prevention. |
